"Reach Pages", viewed by students prior to logging into WebCT CE4, will become the "Course Preview Page" in Webcourses@UCF. Students and guests will be able to browse the course preview pages in Webcourses@UCF once students are populated into the course. Course preview pages will have a new look and will no longer have a left frame.
Converted courses will appear on your myWebcourses tab with the format “Development - course number.” The development section of your course is where you will redesign for the new version. Your students will never see this version.
In Webcourses@UCF, students are automatically added to the course. Faculty no longer need to populuate their courses at the beginning of the term and keep up with changes during the add/drop period. Instead, you will use a new tool in myUCF portal to request your course section with your students. You will find this tool under “Faculty/Advisor Self Service” and then "Instructors" link. Next, lool for “Faculty Webcourses Manager.” We refer to the course with students as your “Production” course. The first time a faculty member enters their production course, you will get an option to copy the content from another course. So the first time you teach in Webcourses@UCF, you will copy the content from your “Development” course.
Each Production course section will have a name based on the class schedule in myUCF. For example, ABC1000 0001 would appear in Webcourses@UCF as ABC1000 – 07Spring_0001. New production sections will be created each semester. However, students will not have access until the term begins or the date you selected in Faculty Webcourses Manager.
Since "Reach Pages" will no longer be available, neither will templates. Templates will be replaced by a limited number of "skins" (color schemes).
Initially, button images created by CDWS will not be available. However, since a number of faculty wish to use these images in their courses, CDWS is busy creating these button for the new skins. You will be notified when the images are available and how to access them.
Students will no longer get prompted to complete the "Online Student Perception of Instruction" form. Instead, a link will be provided to the evaluation form. In the future, CDWS and Computer Services will examine ways to prompt students to complete the evaluation.
