About MIME Types

A Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) type is used by browsers to determine how to display content. For example, if the MIME type is text is text/html, the browser will display the content as HTML.

When you view a file, the MIME type is sent to your browser so that it can identify the type of file and determine what to do with the file. Webcourses@UCF supports the following MIME types:
